The Ladies of the Future

From the girl groups of the 50's and 60's to artists like  Adele, females have always been a major part of the contemporary music scene. So who is bubbling under, ready for their BIG breakout? Perhaps one of these artists.

Meiko was raised by her father in Georgia and got her start singing " White Christmas" at an all black Baptist Church. After the usual playing in laundromats into the dryer ( for the acoustics) she released an album in 2007. Remember the song " Boys with Girlfriends"? Now she is getting ready to release her second album "The Bright Side" later this year.

Who is that voice on Gotye's "Somebody that I Used to Know"? it's Kimbra, New Zealand singer/songwriter. She started writing songs at ten years of age, and got her first guitar at 12. Kimbra won New Zealand's Critics Choice Award in 2011. I think she has a BIG future!

How exciting is it for a young performer to have someone of the caliber of Sheryl Crow wanting to write songs with you? That's  the reality for Nashville based artist Katie Herzig.
Her first solo album came out in 2004 and her songs have been heard on lots of TV shows, like One Tree Hill and Grey's Anatomy. A Grammy winner for songwriting, Katie has tremendous promise for a lasting career.

There are a lot of female singers, but only a few  real sister acts. Meet The Pierces, sisters from Birmingham Alabama. They grew up in the 80's, listening to Joni Mitchell and Simon and Garfunkle. Their beautiful harmonies  show that they have learned their lesssons well. Pick up one of their 4 albums and you will not be disappointed.
