These are difficult times in our country, with an economic meltdown , housing crisis and rising unemployment. So whatâs the biggest scandal that has everyone talking?
Jason the Bachelor changes his mind and dumps girl #1 on live television and gets back together with girl #2. Yesterday, there were over 1600 comments on this following the story on AOL.
But what about the other story? You know, the one where radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh is now the voice of the Republican Party.
Yes, Rush Limbaugh. He of oxycontin, Viagra fame. He who calls women either âfemiNazsiââ or â hotâ.  The one who mocked Michael J Fox and his Parkinsonâs disease. The one who said over and over that he wants Obama to FAIL! A talk show host who said if you donât agree with me â I donât ever want you to call me againâ. Yes, that Rush Limbaugh.

So last weekend, Washington DC was the site of the CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Committee meeting. Some of the topics discussed were âAcorn and how Liberals were destroying the Election Systemâ, â2 Minute Activist: Conservative Victories Across the Nationâ âBailing Out Big Business, Are We All Socialists Now?â âWill Congress Take Your Guns?â.. and on and on.
But the thing that made me sit up and take notice was the awarding of the âDefender of the Constitution Awardâ to Rush Limbaugh.
Rush gives a one hour speech,  which was aired on FOX News, his â first nationwide addressâ and quotes what he says are the fundamental rights of the constitutionâ¦â Life Liberty, FREEDOM(?) and the Pursuit of Happiness.â
The only thing is, thatâs not in the Constitution, thatâs in the  Declaration of Independence.
So when The Nation magazine points that out ( to the Defender of the Constitution award winner) he sayâs thatâs just another example of â vast left wing conspiracyâ. Damn those left wingers knowing the constitution from the Declaration.
But wait! Thereâs more! Michael Steele, the chair of the Republican National Committee calls this radio talk show host an â entertainerâ whose show can be â incendiaryâ. And he was FORCED TO APOLOGIZE to Rush, saying â there was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadershipâ ( emphasis mine).
So it appears to me that Rush is now the head of the Republican Party.
We sure live in interesting times.
