Mayor Dave wrote a blog today explaining how he'll have a limited number of full sized candy bars for kids who arrive at his door for Halloween. The rest of the kids will all get the fun-size candy bars. Apparently, city budget cuts are even being felt by the children.
I believe the Mayor pays for his own candy, but it would be a great scandal if he didn't. The media could call it Mr. Goodbargate.
I totally understand Mayor Dave's plan. He's really doing it for the children. Let's be honest, these days it seems like it's more sugar and less activity for our youth. Mayor Dave is simply doing his best not to add to the problem. At least he hasn't resorted to giving out dental floss or pennies.
I currently live in an apartment, but I can't wait for the day when Lindsay and I move into a home because I'm excited to give out Halloween candy. I really haven't had that thrill because kids don't usually hit up an apartment complex.
For years I bought candy just in case a couple of kids showed up. Each year nothing and it would end with me eating way too much candy at the end of the night.
Last year I didn't buy any candy and take a guess what happened? That's right Mayor Dave showed up in hopes of getting a full sized candy bar. Sadly, all I had for him was a bag of Ramen noodles.
