Free Download: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club comes to The Barrymore Theater on March 15th.

The new album by Black Rebel Motorcycle Cycle Club "Specter at The Feast" hits stores on March 19th. You can download the single "Let The Day Begin" for free:

The lead singer of BRMC, Robert Been, is the son of Michael Been from The Call.  Micahel passed away in 2010 while touring with BRMC as their sound engineer and this cover is the band's way of paying tribute to the man who meant so much to them.

Here's what Ann Powers from NPR says about them:

"On its sixth studio album, the trio takes a leap inspired by loss  - the fatal 2010 heart attack that claimed Michael Been, father of frontman Robert Levon Been and sound engineer and mentor to the band. The reality of death, which for the mourner centers on the sudden and permanent inability to communicate with a loved one, has made BRMC's music more direct, more heartfelt and more honestly beautiful."

World's Worst iPod: Torn Between Two Lovers by Mary MacGregor
Today's song was written by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. It was inspired by the 1957 novel Doctor Zhivago. No one was inspired by the song this morning. It was rejected by almost all the listeners.
Kitty used to be a Goth--almost
Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture. I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons. 1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels. 2) I used to...

World's Worst iPod: Funky Cold Medina by Tone Loc
This morning it seemed like just about everyone was in the mood for some Funky Cold Medina...except Kitty. This ridiculous song made it all the way to number 3 in 1989. Jonathan says any song that references advertising dogs from the 80's has got...

World's Worst iPod: It's a Miracle by Barry Manilow
It's a miracle that both Jonathan and KItty wanted to hear Barry Manilow this morning. They were not alone. Plenty of Fanilow's called in to vote yes. One caller claimed to have seen Manilow in concert 25 times!
