Back in 2008, I was not in the best place. Sure my job was great, but my personal life needed some serious improvement. One Saturday morning I decided to go to Dane County Humane Society and find a new friend. I remember walking in and being interviewed by several cats in the meeting room. Dane County Humane Society has small rooms where cats can meet their potential servant companion to see if the relationship will work.
I met several cats, but I didn’t click with any of them. Some seemed too demanding while others were too neurotic. I was about ready to give up when I went into the shelter’s gift shop. There was a cat “working” in the shop. The people at the shelter said he was pretty social and let him wander a little more. We instantly connected and Baxter came home with me.
My life was upgraded immediately as I enjoyed having the company and the responsibility. It was also amazing how Baxter was interested in watching Chicago White Sox and Bears games with me. He never asked to switch the channel. He also remarkably has the same taste in music as I do!
When my then girlfriend now wife, Lindsay first moved to Madison, she was not very excited about a cat being in the picture. I told her to give him a week and if she didn’t like him we would discuss the next step.
It only took Baxter a day to win her over. Now I think she loves the cat more than she loves me.
Catapalooza starts today at Dane County Humane Society. It’s a chance for you to find your new friend. There’s even reduced adoption fees. Tonight will be family fun night which includes music, dancing, games, prizes, food and more importantly cats looking for homes.
Catapalooza starts today at noon and ends tomorrow at 5pm. Find your Baxter at Dane County Humane Society.
Jonathan & Miss Kitty --
Been running around like the proverbial chicken minus a head trying to get ready for the trip. I leave for O'Hare in a couple of hours, staying at DoubleTree, leave 10:00 a.m. tomorrow for Ft. Lauderdale, Sunday a.m. - to Bimini! By Sunday afternoon I'll be swimming with the dolphins. I'm absolutely wired, as if you'd need to be told. I hope I don't wind up sleeping with the fishes, but just in case--you guys are the best. Baxter is wonderful!!! Hope you check these comments once in awhile. I'll call when I'm back in Madtown, USA ClaireBear
I'm not sure why Pete Yorn decided to name his new music project after a European cave dwelling aquatic salamander, but if he stops by to play us some songs in Studio M, we'll have to ask him.

Today's song was written by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. It was inspired by the 1957 novel Doctor Zhivago. No one was inspired by the song this morning. It was rejected by almost all the listeners.
Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture.
I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons.
1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels.
2) I used to...

This morning it seemed like just about everyone was in the mood for some Funky Cold Medina...except Kitty. This ridiculous song made it all the way to number 3 in 1989. Jonathan says any song that references advertising dogs from the 80's has got...

It's a miracle that both Jonathan and KItty wanted to hear Barry Manilow this morning. They were not alone. Plenty of Fanilow's called in to vote yes. One caller claimed to have seen Manilow in concert 25 times!
