FREE MP3: PAPA - Ain't It So

Slow news day! It seems that the suppliers of the music hype machine are all busy nursing their SXSW hangovers, so the music blogs were a little stagnant. That means that I had to dig a little deeper to find you this week’s free download…so it’s a trade-off: It’s not an artist you’ll probably recognize (yet), but it’s a song you’ll probably fall in love with.

Meet Darren Weiss. He’s the drummer for the indie band Girls, but he also fronts his own group, PAPA. PAPA rolled out their debut, A Good Woman Is Hard To Find, last October. This 5-song EP includes the catchy, retro song “Ain’t It So,” which you can download for free here. It sounds like summer, and it’s the perfect track for our current Midwest spring heatwave. If you’re digging those summertime riffs like I am, then you’ll want to waste no time in moving on to their song “I Am The Lion King.” You can download this totally fresh, Mufasa song for free right here. My poor, helpless coworkers have heard me listening to "I Am The Lion King" on repeat this week. Sorry, guys. Enjoy!

Mayflies: faschinating, or horrifying? You decide.
The mayflies were out in full force over the past couple days. Now I've heard about these insects over the years, but have never experienced a mayfly swarm. I think I'm pretty happy about that. Apparently the mayflies were so thick they...

The new Pink Floyd album won't be what you're hoping for
A lot of Pink Floyd fans got a little bit excited over the weekend, after the wife of David Gilmour announced that a new Pink Floyd album would be coming out this October. Even though Roger Waters wouldn't be a part of it, the idea of the first...

World's Worst iPod: Alice Cooper "You and Me"
Can a song be so horrible that it's actually awesome? Well, if that is possible, here is an example: Alice Cooper's emotional ballad "You and Me" from 1977. I'm not sure we could think up a more hideous lyric than "we shared a bed, some...
