Hello Humans. I felt it was necessary to comment on this supposed study that finds canines are smarter than felines. I'm sorry, but that a bunch of bulls--t! Here's the gist of the story from a report I found on the internet:
Psychology lecturer Britta Osthaus says cats do not understand cause-and-effect connections between objects. She tested the thought processes of 15 of them by attaching fish and biscuit treats to one end of a piece of string, placing them under a plastic screen to make them unreachable and then seeing if the cats could work out that pulling on the other end of the string would pull the treat closer.
First of all, let me comment on this whole string fish/biscuit crap. We know there's a plastic screen! We just don't want to spend time working hard to get the treat. Quite honestly those fish and biscuit treats are pretty gross. Okay let's go on with the study:
They were tested in three ways, using a single baited string, two parallel strings where only one was baited, and two crossed strings where only one was baited.The single string test proved no problem, but unlike dogs (which Osthaus has previously tested) no cat consistently chose correctly between two parallel strings. With two crossed strings, one cat always made the wrong choice and others succeeded no more than might be expected by chance.
Alright, we didn't pick the correct string because we don't give a @#$%&! The stupid dogs are so busy trying to figure out the whole string concept. We understand it, but are insulted that you want to test us on it. It's like if we gave you one of those crossword puzzles from People Magazine. I think you could figure out this riddle: The L in SNL. Right? But you feel insulted that they asked you such a stupid question.
