What does Kitty have to say?

Brady Bunch Nightmare!

When I noticed on the big birthday list this morning that it's Christopher Knight's 54th birthday, my first thought was that he doesn't seem like he should be that old. Peter Brady is forever 15 in my mind.

Secondly, I got to thinking about how I really have no room for the Brady Bunch in my life any more. I'm done with it. I would like to purge the file. I'm tired of "Marcia Marcia Marcia" references. I don't find it realistic that Davy Jones would be so impacted by a fan's letter that he would stop by their house. I wish I could forget that Cindy's doll was named Kitty Carry-all. And quite frankly, I don't really wonder if Alice and Sam the Butcher ever got it on.

But even though it's more than 40 YEARS since the Brady Bunch started airing on ABC..it won't go away. Just when you think maybe it's faded into obscurity, it's back. With a vengeance.

Sometimes in obvious ways.. like the Brady Bunch movie back in the 1990s.

Sometimes it's more subtle. Like when a song performed on the Brady Bunch shows up in a freaking cereal commercial.

If you're like me, you know that this song, with different lyrics, was sung by the Brady kids when they entered a talent competition to pay for an engraved silver platter for their parents' anniversary. Their group name? The Silver Platters. But you knew that.

I only wish I could forget.

And in case you've cleared your mental hard drive of the original ditty....
