We know rock bands demand silly stuff from promoters when they go on tour. And we've heard for years about Van Halen's demand for M&M's (absolutely no brown ones).
But now that fantastic website The Smoking Gun has obtained an actual copy of the famous Van Halen 1982 tour rider.
It lives up to the hype.
I gave it a quick review. Here are some of the highlights
--10 dozen doughnuts (just for the crew)
--utensils must not include plastic forks. All forks must have four prongs. It notes that "any caterer not providing adequate condiments, utensils or ice will be subject to a $100 fine." And this is just for the crew!
The band's demands of course include the famous "no brown M&M's" demand, as well as 1 case Budweiser, 4 cases of Schlitz malt liquor, 3 fifths of Jack Daniels, two fifths of Stolichnaya vodka, plus a fifth of Southern Comfort and some Blue Nun white wine for good measure.
Wait. How many guys were in Van Halen?
The rider also demands 1 large tube of KY jelly.
