Baseball season officially began last week when the Oakland A's and Seattle Mariners played some games in Japan. However, many baseball fans probably feel like the season officially started last night when the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals helped the Miami Marlins open their new stadium.
My favorite team, the Chicago White Sox start the season tomorrow in Texas against the Rangers. I used to countdown the days until the start of a new baseball season. I always enjoyed all the corny stuff about a clean slate and another chance to make good.
I'm just not feeling it much this year. Maybe it's because the White Sox are predicted to have a horrible season or maybe it's because I'm starting to realize that my cheering will not have any impact on how million dollar athletes will perform.
Don't get me wrong, I'll be at the White Sox home opener this season. I go every year and will continue to go as long as I'm in within driving distance of the ballpark, but I'm not "feeling" it as much as years past.
I'm not sure the Sox are feeling it either. Each year the White Sox have a slogan for the season. Past years include "Good Guys Wear Black", "Grinder Ball" and "All In". This season the slogan is "Appreciate the Game."
Are you kidding me?!
Why don't they just say "Appreciate the Good Food" or "Appreciate the Ample Parking" or Appreciate the Time Away From Your Job." Better yet, they could be honest and just say "We Think We're Going To Suck, But Please Come to At Least One Game This Season."
Who knows. Maybe the team will surprise everyone and contend for the division. I will make this prediction: the White Sox slugger Adam Dunn will bounce back this year and have a solid season.
Hopefully there will be some fans around to appreciate it.

It's a miracle that both Jonathan and KItty wanted to hear Barry Manilow this morning. They were not alone. Plenty of Fanilow's called in to vote yes. One caller claimed to have seen Manilow in concert 25 times!
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, it is another gorgeous Monday, fit for another great show at the Crystal Corner tonight.
Through locking ourselves in the barn on Irish Lane, tossing some ideas around, as well as a few choice beverages to...
Hey everybody, we were thrown for a loop by the twist this week, but were able to make one of our "oldie but a goldie" songs fit the mold.
We have a few songs that we have played consistently over the years, and we are very happy that we will be...
We just received word of what this weeks twist is, and...oh boy. We need to take our "signature song" and cut it to only 2:30 without going over. Amberstein does not simply play 2:30 versions of our songs...so this could be interesting.

In 1984, Rockwell rose to number 2 for 3 weeks in 1984 with "Somebody's Watching Me." The backup singer for the song was Michael Jackson. How did Rockwell get Jackson to help him? Well, Rockwell's real name is Kennedy William Gordy and he...
Have you heard the song "Rumble and Sway" yet on Triple M?
The singer sounds like a raspy blues dude who's definitely been around the block a few times....but surprisingly, Jamie N. Commons is only 23 years old!
He was born in England, but...
