I've been on vacation for a week...a week I needed to recover from my 13 hours at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago!
We got there early so Mike could check out all the stuff in Guitar Center Village...including original guitars owned by Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
The day started with Bill Murray and Eric welcoming us..and the music kicked off with Sonny Landreth..and didn't end until an all-star jam at around 11pm.
Despite the fact that it was really HOT (officially 86 degrees but as much as 120 degrees on the field), I did not end up in the First Aid tent.
Water was five bucks a bottle, but that was cheap compared to beer. You could get a 24 ounce can of Miller for 11 bucks. That's right, I said 11 bucks.

I see you survived. I wouldn't care who was playing, there is no way I could have handled that horrible heat. 120 degrees? That is just Africa hot. I have done all my concerts when I was younger and they were always inside except for the weekends where Short Stuff played every weekend. It was just a little piece of land down by the Lake, I used to go all the time. People would have barrels of beer and smoke and the cops couldn't do anything about it. Then it moved to the Gun Club and I knew there was gonna be trouble so I didn't go and glad I didn't. Cops were beating and arresting people. That was the end of that. Eleven dollar beer? That is nuts and five dollars for water but they got you any way you look at it!!
