I thought it best I wait until after Easter to share these thoughts with you.
I am not a fan of rabbits. Oh, I like Bunny Rabbit from Captain Kangaroo. I don't mind the Trix Rabbit or even Thumper.
Just stay the hell out of my garden!!
Stop eating my flowers and veggies. I do not want to share my harvest with you.
I have tried just about everything to keep them out of my garden, and I tell you none of it works. That product called Liquid Fence has provided me with limited success, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. And the smell is great if you're into rotten eggs.
Cayenne pepper does nothing. It simply makes the rabbits crave Cajun food.
Human hair? My rabbits don't mind a little hare here and there.
Once when I saw a particularly brazen bunny dart across my backyard, I flung the patio door open..ran outside and yelled at the top of my lungs, "Rabbit!"
This was witnessed by my boyfriend and slightly disinterested gardening partner, Mike, who said something like, "that oughta show 'em."
I know a fence would do the trick, but doesn't that seem a bit divisive to you? If you have any ideas, feel free to share them here.
Patterdale terriers. Smart, sweet little dogs (about 15 lbs) who aim to please (and originally bred for the extermination of rodents and foxes in gardens). They come in fuzzy and smooth coats, the smooth coat dogs look like 3 month old labs and the fuzzycoats look labradoodle-ish. You don't need to let the dog at it, just them being around is a good rabbit deterant. And if you really want to rid yourself of rabbits, these dogs will do that too.
