I spent Thanksgiving in London with Lindsay and her family this year. Londoners have a special name for Thanksgiving. They call it Thursday.
Over the next few days, I'll share some tales from my trip abroad.
Today: God save the Queen or at least the Changing of the Guard
You've probably heard about the changing of the guard ceremony outside of Buckingham Palace. Lots of people gather outside waiting to see what all the fuss is about. Sadly, it's much ado about nothing. The guards come marching in and some come marching out. A band also shows up and believe it or not, they play music from Abba and Star Wars. It resembled a bad high school half time show.
Don't get me wrong, I love all the stuff related to the Queen and the Royal Family. I love all the pomp and circumstance. I just didn't expect to hear "The Final Countdown" from the band Europe.
I imagine Queen Elizabeth has stays about as far away from the ceremony as possible. Perhaps one of the most humorous parts of the event was when a small hatchback came out of the Palace during the ceremony. Another tourist standing nearby wondered if it was the Queen making a quick getaway.
Even though the ceremony was quite cheesy, I can't imagine the Queen sneaking away in a Subaru Outback. Then again, it probably would be the perfect way to get by the crowd without anyone noticing.
Tomorrow: You think you've hung out a restaurant that's been in business for a long time? You won't believe how long a pub in Cambridge has been serving food.

Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture.
I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons.
1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels.
