Did you ever notice that there are lot of bands out there with the word "deer" in the name? This has been freaking me out for a while, so I thought I'd embrace my fear..in honor of Wisconsin's deer hunting season starting on Saturday.
Here are a few of the deer names I came up with on a quick internet search:
Deerhunter, Deer Tick, Deerhoof, Deerpeople, Deerhunter, Deer Camp, the Deer Republic, Rattlesnake Deer, Deer Tick, Broken Deer, Deer Season, Starved Deer, Brian Deer, Hart Deer, Deer Woman, Deer or the Doe, John Deer, Deer Dozer, Deer Canada, Deer Friends, Deer Fight, Deer Meet, and Trapped Deer.
There are a couple of others with the same clever idea: Dear in the Headlights, Dear and The Headlights and the Deer in Your Headlights.
So, which is the BEST deer band? I thought I'd set up a deer hunting camp on youtube and find out.
I started with the Georgia band Deerhunter. Sorry, can't stand the singer's voice.
How about Deerhoof? This band is from San Francisco. And all I have to say about this is "What the...?
But the winner is...Deer Tick. They just played the Majestic in Madison the other night..and from what I can tell from the videos I watched..I bet I missed a great show. They're an indie folk band from Providence, R.I.
