I got an awesome phone call at home last evening, a cousin I haven’t spoken to in about 40 years!
I was much closer to my father’s side of the family than my mothers, and over the years, kinda lost track of my cousins who grew up in Philadelphia. My cousin Rhona is 2 years younger than me, and I always looked forward to our family visits. In my eyes, she was beautiful and more sophisticated than I could ever be. You know the old country mouse/ city mouse thing.
ANYWAY, I almost dropped the phone when she told me who it was. After catching up, I learned that we had so much in common about the way we grew up once we left home. We exchanged info and promised to stay in touch, which I hope we do. One thing I know, a visit to Philadelphia is in my future.
I’ll bet you have some family members, or long lost friends who would LOVE to hear from you. Maybe the last time you talked to your old college friend you had a falling out… and I’m sure you have at least one distant relative you haven’t spoken to in years. I can attest from experience what a thrill it will be.
