80s trends that need to come back

I took a journey into the 1980s last night when I went to see the musical Flashdance at Overture Center. The musical was quite the trip. I loved the dancing, the costumes, and the staging.

Out in the lobby, they were selling Flashdance legwarners, and I was thinking that's a trend that doesn't necessarily need a comeback. I never even owned owned any, but my mom did. Pink ones and purple ones. But I digress.

Here are some 1980s things I would like to see make a comeback.

1. Acid wash jeans, but only if the pockets and cuffs are in a different color acid wash denim than the rest of the pants. And while we're talking legwear, how about stirrup pants!?

2. Perms. (See above). Also, mullets.  What's wrong with being business in the front and party in the back?

3. Stroh's Beer. I used to drink a lot of that beer in the 80s. I think I liked it mostly  becaused when you read the neon light from the inside of the bar, it said "Shorts."

4. Trivial Pursuit. Whenever I played this game, I was super into it. I remember when a friend of mine and I took on an entire room of smart people and nearly beat them. And we would have too, if we had remembered the three things you add to Kraft Mac and Cheese, according to the box, are milk, butter, and SALT.

5." Moonlighting: The Twilight Years."  Admit it. You want to see Bruce Willis and Cybill at long last back together again!

World's Worst iPod: Kajagoogoo "Too Shy"
Gotta love the '80s! Depending on who you're talking to, Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" is either a song that defines the decade, in a good way, or it's a song that gives all other '80s songs a bad name. It made it to #5 on the charts in...

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know about Birthday Boy Neil Young
Happy 69th birthday to my favorite self-proclaimed "rich hippie," Neil Young. I remember when I was a kid, I hated Neil's voice. I didn't even particularly care for his songs CSNY albums, but the guy grew on me, and he's now one of my...

World's Worst iPod: Mac and Katie Kissoon "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep"
There was a lot of love this morning for a song that made it up to #20 in 1971 for the brother sister team of Mac and Katie Kissoon. The pair hailed from Trinidad and this was their only Top 40 hit.

World's Worst iPod: Robbie Nevil "C'est La Vie"
"That's just the way things go," croons Robbie Nevil in the soong "C'est La Vie." Despite the fact that the theme seemed to fit the way a lot of people feel today, there just wasn't enough to support playing it in its entirety. Released...
