What does Kitty have to say?

50 New things before I'm (gasp) 50

I hate to admit it, but I'm turning 50 next year. And I've decided to go on a little journey of personal growth before I get there next February, by trying 50 new things before I'm 50. I've already completed one--by emceeing an event on my own, and that went pretty well. That was 3 weeks ago..so I've got to get going on this, and that's where I need your help. Do you have any suggestions? They don't necessarily have to be physical accomplishments..like competing in Iron Man, or walking up all the stairs on a downtown parking ramp without getting out of breath. And they don't have to be death-defying either. I've already jumped out of an airplane, and I'm not interested in bungee jumping. Preferably I'd like the new things to be either fun or involve some kind of personal growth. My friend Adam just emailed me somebody's bucket list of 530 items...and I can tell you I won't be doing some of them.  I'm not going to read the complete works of Shakespeare, because I have a thing against iambic pentameter. And I'm pretty sure I'm not going to win a Nobel prize, build a gazebo, or become a Charlie Sheen intern any time soon either. Do you have any suggestions? Feel free to share them here!

Kitty, You should try a "float" in a sensory deprivation tank. It would definitely be the most relaxing thing of the 50 new things you try! The basic dimensions of the tank are 8'x4'x4' It's filled with about 200 gallons of water with almost 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt added so that it's super saturated. The water is only about 10" deep but because of the salt anyone floats effortlessly in the supine position (the water is 10x more bouyant than the Dead Sea). The water is heated to skin temperature of around 93 degrees. No light and hardly any sound reaches you while in the tank, hence the term "sensory deprivation." More info about isolation tanks in Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isolation_tank If you want to try it I have one in my basement. - John

Get rid of 50 things. Getting rid of clutter and things from the past that you have been hanging can be very cathartic. It'll help you live in the present.

Kitty - Come to a Madison Symphony Orchestra concert and Blog about it!! You can find the schedule at madisonsymphony.org Now the Symphony doesn't usually play "fresh new music" but they definitely give classical music a fresh new feeling each time they play. And many of the MSO musicians live and work right here in our own community - Madison has so many talented local musicians. Have fun with your 50 things - it'll be a fun year hearing about all the things you're trying. I listen to your show every morning! Casey

You should do a SCUBA discovery. Check the website for dates or call to set up a "discover". You get instruction in the pool starting in the shallow end and moving to the deep end. All equipment is included. Just bring yourself and a towel. I don't think it's necessary to mention a swimsuit but just to be safe I guess it should be brought to mind.

Do not enough money to buy a house? You not have to worry, because it's achievable to get the credit loans to solve such kind of problems. Therefore get a credit loan to buy everything you want.

World's Worst iPod: Torn Between Two Lovers by Mary MacGregor
Today's song was written by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. It was inspired by the 1957 novel Doctor Zhivago. No one was inspired by the song this morning. It was rejected by almost all the listeners.
Kitty used to be a Goth--almost
Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture. I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons. 1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels. 2) I used to...

World's Worst iPod: Funky Cold Medina by Tone Loc
This morning it seemed like just about everyone was in the mood for some Funky Cold Medina...except Kitty. This ridiculous song made it all the way to number 3 in 1989. Jonathan says any song that references advertising dogs from the 80's has got...

World's Worst iPod: It's a Miracle by Barry Manilow
It's a miracle that both Jonathan and KItty wanted to hear Barry Manilow this morning. They were not alone. Plenty of Fanilow's called in to vote yes. One caller claimed to have seen Manilow in concert 25 times!
A Fine Monday Afternoon
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, it is another gorgeous Monday, fit for another great show at the Crystal Corner tonight. Through locking ourselves in the barn on Irish Lane, tossing some ideas around, as well as a few choice beverages to...
