6/7 The Hussy w/ Wheels on Fire, The Honey Slides, Nester High Noon Saloon, 8pm, 21+, more info
Local Rock n' Roll
The Hussy is a two-piece piss and vinegar rock and roll act out of Madison, Wisconsin. Formed during the sweltering summer of 2008. Heather Sawyer and Robert Wegner used to play in the gratuitously loud and catchy Madison group Cast Not Dogs. Their current band, The Hussy, collides Wegner's garage-rock riffage, Sawyer's considerable drum-pummeling skills, and playfully obnoxious vocals from both.

6/10 Landon Pigg w/ Madi Diaz and Mikey Wax High Noon Saloon, 9pm, 18+, more info
Indie Pop/Rock
Nashville indie-pop rocker/singer-songwriter Landon Pigg credits David Mead and Rufus Wainwright for instilling in him an appreciation for a beautiful melody, Radiohead for encouraging him to expel his emotions into his songwriting; and rock music icons the Beatles and Led Zeppelin for exhibiting to him the importance of catchy licks and hooks. Says Pigg: "Maybe there is a naïveté in my approach. I never had a guitar lesson when I started out. I've always felt that when you don't learn all the rules you're much more inclined to break them with a smile."  For tickets, follow this link to the True Endeavors website.
6/10 Special Screening of "Breaking Away" for Bike to Work WeekBarrymore Theatre, 5-9pm, more info

6/10 Mini Mansions w/ Ralphed, Follow That Bird, Sleeping in the StereoThe Frequency, 9pm, 21+, more info
Psych Pop
Mini Mansions are a three-piece psych pop band from Los Angeles (w/ Michael Shuman from Queens of the Stone Age), who serve a mix of baroque-pop requiems, Motown eulogies, and Mersey-era break beats. Let's just say it's like The Zombies playing at ODB's funeral. Formed in January 2009, Mini Mansions have toured the US as main support for Them Crooked Vultures and Autolux, as well as played with bands such as The Dead Weather, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Spinerrette, and Sleepy Sun.
6/11 Frog Eyes w/ Pearly Gate Music and Worrier The Frequency, 10pm, 21+, more info
Experimental Rock
Frog Eyes are equally informed by Scott Walker and Roxy Music, Nuggets collections and the Everly Brothers. But in truth, Frog Eyes' recordings sound like nothing else but Frog Eyes. In the past the band has lived in a no-man's-land reserved for musical anomalies, making music championed by discerning critics and discerning artists. For tickets, follow this link to the True Endeavors site.
6/11 The Jason Horowitz Band w/ Ida Jo High Noon Saloon, 5:30pm, 21+, more info
Folk Rock
The Jason Horowitz Band is folk/rock out of Madison, WI. Jason is what a lot of people would call a confessional writer. He's always figured that his experiences in life are a lot like other peoples' - success and failure, love and heartache, hope and sadness. So he tries to write about what is important to him and hope that people will relate. Ida Jo is a fiddle player and singer who won Best Urban/R&B song for her work with Mike Droho & The Compass Rose in this year's MAMA awards.
6/12 The Handsome Family w/ Elephant Micah High Noon Saloon, 9:30pm, 21+, more info
Gothic Country Folk (self described from myspace)
The Handsome Family creates music that mines the deep veins of fatalism in the Appalachian voice. As songwriters it's the eerie, ancestral voice of ‘Anonymous’ they ultimately resemble the most; music that moves forward by turning the clock back— haunting, primal and strangely heroic. It is music that is dark, elemental, mischievous and mournful. For tickets follow this link to the True Endeavors site.
6/13 Ellis w/ Beth Kille High Noon Saloon, 7pm, 18+, more info
Modern Folk
With music that is described as “joyful, unpretentious modern folk”, Ellis continues to build attention at venues and festivals throughout the country with heart-felt songs that reflect her sincere graciousness, vibrant nature, and contagious sense of humor. You’ll quickly be drawn in by her warmth and real-life journeys as reflected in her songs. Singer, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Beth Kille has risen through the ranks of the acoustic-rock/Americana music scene since her debut in 2000. Her music is a hybrid of rock, country, folk and blues that resonates with diverse musical influences ranging from the soul of the Indigo Girls, the grit of Melissa Etheridge, the sultry vocals of Norah Jones & the groove of Ani DiFranco. She led the highly decorated Madison, WI rock band, Clear Blue Betty, for 6 years, putting out 3 award winning albums.

How To Save Money On Your Car Fuel Expenditures Living in the US, without a system in place for mass transportation, it is essential for most people to have a car. Fuel prices are spiking, for many reasons, be they simply supply and demand, wild speculation, or just simple avarice on the oil companies' part. Due to this, there is a need for old-fashioned suggestions on how to save money on fuel prices. When you save a little money here, and a bit there, before long you have saved a nice sum of money. Automobiles that use fuel in an efficient manner, for instance sedans, or hybrids, if you can spend a bit more, are one obvious way to lower gasoline expenses. Nonetheless, even with gas-guzzlers, there are ways to use less gas, such as driving more slowly and avoiding quick acceleration. Learn to utilize the momentum of the automobile to keep it running forward, with your foot off the gas, whenever it's appropriate, to save on gasoline. You can avoid having to fill up for longer by using some of the many ways to save on gas. The same grade of fuel is not set for all autos, or even for all places, so make sure to stick to what's determined for yours. If your automobile is designed to benefit from running on premium gas, then that's what you must fill up with, but other than that you're throwing money away. You can save quite a bit on fuel if you drive more slowly, and get rid of any extra weight from your car. Driving at high speed means more air must be transplaced and that drag increases, which all means a reduction in fuel efficiency. Aside from the increased risk posed by high speed driving, slowing down will keep money in your pocket. One piece of extra weight you can remove so you can save fuel, unless you need it to transport something, is a roof rack. Fuel consumption is affected not only by the weight, but by the increased drag created by roof racks as well. Take a look in your automobile's trunk and remove any weight that's not necessary, no matter how little you think the difference it may make. Gasoline prices don't look set to go down meaningfully, so either learn to live with it or look for alternative fuel sources while finding ways to cut back on your usage. People in general find it hard to change their ways, so, even if they are indignant over the high prices, they mostly keep doing what they always have and pay what's asked. The only discernible change is that a lot of people are now purchasing vehicles that boast greater fuel-efficiency. Individuals who through economic constraints cannot go either of the routes of a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle, or finding alernative energy sources, are the ones who are likely to try their best to save gas. It will likely take an education campaign to get more men and women to realize that conserving gasoline is something worth doing. In addition to the money that would be saved, persuading every person to drive more slowly would make our highways a lot safer and cleaner.
