  • Eddie Argos and Dyan Valdés are correcting the mistakes of pop songs past. So far they have defended the belittled blue collar worker from Kanye West’s “Gold Digger,” told Gerry and the Pacemakers that in fact it is okay to walk alone, dumped the manipulative Martha Reeves on behalf of poor Jimmy Mack and taken the misguided instructions of a 17th century ballad to its logical conclusion.  m
5/6 - Natty Nation w/ Urban Empress and the Urbanites, 9pm, Majestic Theatre, $5 cover, more info
  • Local reggae band Natty Nation will be performing with special guest Urban Empress and the Urbanites.  A must see for any  local reggae fan.
5/6 - Down The Line  CD Release Show w/ Ryan Casey, 9pm, High Noon Saloon, $10 cover, 21+
  • Chicago’s Down The Line's  music delivers mighty hooks and harmonies within smart writing and truly shining vocals. It’s an acoustic mix—guitar, mandolin, violin, harmonica and djembe, driven by a lone-electric bass—that the Chicago Sun-Times praised as “an organic blend of rollicking pop.” The group prefers to describe their sound more simply: acoustic pop. However you label them, Down The Line creates music that’s pure, unique and unforgettable. In 2010 Down The Line released Open The Door, a stirring EP of new originals. They are not to be missed.
5/6 - The Cork n Bottle String Band, 6pm, The Frequency, $4, 21+, more info
  • The Cork 'n Bottle Bottle String Band was formed in 1996 by a group of friends with more enthusiasm than experience. Named after the liquor store where most of them either worked or shopped they soon began a weekly Wednesday night gig at Ken's Bar in downtown Madison, a gig that lasted until the bar closed in 2002. The band still plays regularly with a monthly show at the UW Memorial Union and various other Madison area gigs.

EVERYBODY SINGS and they have a sweet blend of 3, 4, and 5 part harmonies, playing reggae, ska, punk, psychobilly and bluegrass versions of your favorite songs.

  • Ashley Raines grew up in the Midwest and began running away from home almost as early as he could walk. By the age of fourteen he was hitchhiking from his home in Kansas to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He hopped boxcars and taught himself any instrument he could get his hands on, recording his songs on four-track reel-to-reel machines which he sold while performing on the street.
