7/7 One eskimO w/ Jeffery David Majestic Theatre, 8pm, more info
Indie Pop Rock
The brainchild of singer/songwriter Kristian Leontiou, One eskimO arrives with an impressive breadth of imagination that instantly marks them as something extraordinary. The London-based band’s Shangri-La Music self-titled debut is an ambitious and affecting collection of widescreen modern pop, alive with iridescent textures and intricately created songcraft. Songs like “Hometime” and the buoyant “All Balloons” are moving and expressive, touching upon such universal themes as love and heartbreak, success and failure. As if that weren’t enough, the release comes in tandem with a full-length animated film. One eskimO’s unorthodox self-visualization only serves to add idiosyncratic color and character to a beguiling musical work already abounding with invention and emotion.
7/7 Boo Bradley Alchemy, 9pm, 21+, more info

Folk Rock
Nineteen year old Trapper Schoepp will be bringing his vivid folk lyrics and the Shades to Madison for a great show at the High Noon Saloon.  Trapper has been making the rounds of Midwest college towns in preperation for his sophomore release  Livid  and Moved.
7/8 Free Summerjam with Sweetgrass Majestic Theatre, 9pm, more info
Folk Rock
SweetGrass is an acoustic quintet based out of Madison, WI. Its five members share a passion for bluegrass music that is the driving force behind the band. They play a mix of original music and traditional bluegrass songs that combine to create the SweetGrass experience. Their beautiful four part harmonies and finger burning solos helped them win the Minnesota Bluegrass and Old Time Music Organization’s band competition in 2009, making them the reigning “Race for a Place” champions. They play that hard-driving kind of bluegrass that makes you want to get up, stomp your feet, and dosy-doe with your neighbor. SweetGrass honed their craft on the sidewalks of State Street in Madison, but you can find them now, making that high lonesome sound, at music venues across the Midwest.
7/9 Ken Lonquist Capital Brewery Garten, 6pm, more info
Pop, Children Pop
began writing songs at seven, took up the guitar at twelve, and has been performing professionally since his college days at UW-Madison. He won a national audition and traveled widely as “Minstrel for the Environment,” writing and performing for K-12 students about environmental concerns. A series of acclaimed recordings for adults and children followed.  His charm and energy as a live performer remain the heart of his work.
7/9 Josh Dupont and Michael Massey The Brink Lounge, 9pm, more info
Piano Rock/Pop
Come check out Project M contestant Josh Dupont as he hits the stage with Michael Massey as they perform as a duet on piano.   Both Dupont and Massey will bring a rich rock piano sound that you will not want to miss!

7/11 Jonny Lang Capitol Theater at the Overture Center, 7:30pm, more info
Blue Rock
Jonny Lang burst onto the rock and blues scene at the tender age of 15. Six albums and ten years later, Lang has won a Grammy, played for a White House audience that included President and Mrs. Clinton and performed alongside music legends B.B. King, Sting, Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones. Lang’s unique method of guitar playing paired with his soulful voice continue to draw audiences throughout the country.

Kitty used to be a Goth--almost
Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture. I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons. 1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels. 2) I used to...
