8/10 - Steve Miller Band w/ Dave Mason WI State Fair, 7:30pm, more info
Classic Rock
The Steve Miller Band will officially be rocking the state of Wisconsin when they arrive at the State Fair this week.  Steve Miller Band is coming off the release of their most recent album, Bingo!, on June 15.  Whether you are a fan of the new album or of classic Steve Miller, head to the Fair this week!
8/10 Jeremy Messersmith w/ Conrad Plymouth High Noon Saloon, 7pm, more info
Singer-Songwriter
To call Jeremy Messersmith a musician is half-truth: He’s also a storyteller, who has carefully crafted a trilogy of songs that narrate life. His first full-length release The Alcatraz Kid is a moving collection of acoustic-driven lullabies with titles like “Novocain” and “Beautiful Children” that innocently question the purpose of things to come.
8/11 Melissa Etheridge Riverside Theater (Milwaukee), 8pm, more info
Singer-Songwriter
Singer-songwriter and activist Melissa Etheridge will be performing at the beautiful Riverside Theater in Milwaukee this week.  Etheridge released her most recent studio album, Fearless Love, earlier this year on April 27.  Don't miss your chance to see this Etheridge live this week!
8/11 Rooney w/ Violent Soho High Noon Saloon, 8pm, more info
Pop/Rock
Rooney is a five-piece pop rock band from Los Angeles, California. Their music is reminiscent of British invasion rock and 80’s pop. They have been compared to The Beatles, The Cars, Jellyfish, and Blur. As Rooney manages to capture elements from the past four decades and make them sound modern. They have toured the nation with acts such as Jonas Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Weezer, and The Hanson Brothers.
8/12 - Train w/ Kris Allen WI State Fair, 7:30pm, more info
Pop/Rock
Train will be bringing their pop/rock sound to the Wisconsin State Fair this Thursday.  The San Francisco based trio has charted three number one US adult Top 40 songs including "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)," "Calling All Angels," and most recently "Hey, Soul Sister."  The band will likely perform their hits as well as tracks off their most recent album Save Me, San Francisco which was released last October.
8/12 - Baghdad Scuba Review w/ Soul Shaker Majestic Theatre, 9pm, more info
Jam Rock
Sprouting out of the dawn in Madison Wisconsin, Baghdad SCUBA Review (BSR) is a first-rate model of what the band is attempting to introduce to its listeners: full scale, well disciplined progressive rock. As a six-piece group of uncommonly talented musicians, with both entertaining and amusing personalities, this bold group of artists carries impeccable musicianship to spawn a chimerical stage presence and as a newborn band has already embraced a sizeable following.
8/14 - John Mayer w/ The Avett Brothers First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre (Tinley Park, IL), 7pm, more info
Pop, Rock, Blues
One of the biggst names in modern pop-blues rock, John Mayer, will be performing in the state to our south.  John Mayer has had great success throughout his musical career with chart-topping tracks like "Daughters,"Waiting on the World to Change," and "Say."  Mayer brings a pop friendly look and feel with the skills of a talented blues guitarist.  Performing with Mayer is the alternative country rockers The Avett Brothers.  This will truly be a fantastic show.
8/14 - Phish Alpine Valley Music Theatre, 7pm, more info
Jam Rock
There is not much you can even say to describe this upcoming show.  Phish, known for their live jam performances will be in southern Wisconsin for two shows this weekend.  Phish's live sets are legendary among fans and describing the atmosphere would likely not be giving the band enough justice.  Look for our own Gabby Parsons this week at Alpine as Phish will truly rock the weekend away.  Bottom line, if you enjoy live music, you should head to Alpine Valley this weekend.
