Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers are making their way to Madison!
Growing up with a miss match of influences from his dad’s record collection and his sister’s love of 80’s rock, Kellogg has burst onto the scene with an interesting flavor. Artists like the Goo Goo Dolls, Josh Ritter, The Pat McGee Band and former tour mates Needtobreathe come to mind. It’s a blend of alt-country rock music with a poppy edge.
After releasing four solo albums Stephen was looking for true musical camaraderie. He found it in Kit Karlson and Boots Factor. He met the pair at UMass-Amherst and formed the Sixers, or as they’ve affectionately become to be known the “Sk6ers” in 2003. Since then the group has doing well for themselves, releasing multiple albums and having their tracks featured on shows such as Mercy and One Tree Hill. They have recently added a fourth addition to the group, Sam Getz, to assist with guitar. The four-sum released their latest album The Bear on Vanguard Records which was voted "Best of 2009" by No Depression and JamBase. Additionally they received the honor of being named 2009 Entertainers of the year by Armed Forces Entertainment.
After performing a little over 1000 shows together, Stephen and the Sixers pride themselves on high energy performances and showmanship. The Sixers like to keep the audience guessing and alter about 70% of their set list every night. That way there is always room for spontaneity and authentic memorable moments. Although they all have their area of expertise they love to switch instruments throughout their shows.
This should definitely be a fun and distinctive live act and one you shouldn’t miss!
