{Recommended} FRZN Fest @ High Noon

Hi! It's nice to to meet you, FRZN Fest.

True Endeavors, the concert-booking machine of Madison, is hosting its inaugural FRZN Fest this weekend. You won't want to miss your chance to catch this impressive line-up of upcoming indie artists when they stop at High Noon this Friday & Saturday. The line-up seems to be dominated by our friends from the Northwoods -- S. Carey, Polica, and Peter Wolf Crier all have ties to the Bon Iver clan. This northern exposure of performers is supplemented with other rising artists -- some overlapping with our neighbor Chicago's Tomorow Never Knows music festival -- including Chairlift, Class Actress, and Dom.

Still not convinced? Here's what you have to look forward to if you join me this weekend for the introduction of FRZN Fest.

Day 1 - Friday, January 13th

Chairlift - An article about this duo was just posted on Pitchfork, just in time for you to get to know them.

Dom

Class Actress - Might I suggest listening/dancing to "Keep You"?

Squarewave

Polica Album Art

Polica
- Fronted by female vocalist Channy Casselle, this Twin Cities group has been rampant on indie blogs lately like Brooklyn Vegan (click through to explore some tunes of theirs). Their debut album Give You The Ghost will be out February 14th.

Day 2 - Saturday, January 14th

S. Carey - Labelmate of Bon Iver on Jagjaguwar Records -- who seem excited about this music fest.

Peter Wolf Crier - Explore his sound below with "Settling It Off." If you dig it, you can grab the song for free on True Endeavors' website here

Caveman

Carter Tanton

"Thank God I'm a Country Boy" John Denver: World's Worst iPod
There was just about universal love for this foot-stomper from John Denver. John Denver had hit after hit in the mid 1970s, and this was one of them, goign all the way to #1 in 1975. Go ahead, crank it up, sing it loud and proud. And maybe swing...

World's Worst iPod: Jump 'N The Saddle Band "The Curly Shuffle"
A silly novelty tune with a jump swing beat took the country by storm--at least parts of it--in early 1984.  A Chicago band called Jump 'N The Saddle scored a #15 with the Curly Shuffle...and it seems a lot of people have some pretty awesome...

World's Worst iPod:The Human League "(Keep Feeling) Fascination
It was almost a clean-sweep this morning for the synthesizer heavy "(Keep Feeling) Fascination") by the Human League.  Everybody was in the mood for a little 80s fun! It made it up to #8 on the charts in 1983, a couple of years after...

World's Worst iPod:Dr. Hook "When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman"
Here's a song that inspired high-schoolers to act like 12-year-olds back in the late 1970's. The lyric "when you're in love with a beautiful woman, it's hard," was just so darn hilarious!! Dr. Hook had a lot of hits in the...

World's Worst iPod:Escape Club "Wild Wild West"
Remember when we were headed for the 90s..and grooving to the Escape Club? This band from London scored a number 1 hit in 1988 with the song "Wild Wild West." It's probably the only song you remember from that band--but they weren't a...

World's Worst iPod: Wayne Newton "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast"
With Father's Day coming up, we thought we'd choose one of the greatest dad songs of all time.  But since that song wasn't on the iPod, we decided to go with "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast" by Wayne Newton. This song made...

Day 4: The Final Day of Bonnaroo
Today was another busy day at Bonnaroo. We started the day off by seeing Shakey Graves. I missed his show in Madison earlier this year so he was a must see on my list. Loved him! Right as he ended, a press conference with Ed Helms, Abigail...

Day 3: Saturday
Saturday was a very busy day! So many Triple M bands to see! So many concerts were back to back, so we did a lot of walking back and forth from the stages to the media compound. If you're ever in need of getting more steps in during the day,...
