[Recommended] Donovan Frankenreiter, Majestic Theatre, Nov. 15th

Donovan Frankenreiter w/ Ximena Sarinana Majestic Theatre, November 15th, 7:30PM, $18/$38, all ages. Musical Style: Soft surfer rock Latest album: "Glow" was released on October 5th, 2010. Donovan Frankenreiter is a surfer and musician.  He's from California (big surprise, I know).  He started pursuing a music career when he was 18-years-old.  He released his self-titled solo album in 2004 with the help of his close friend and co-producer Jack Johnson.  He released an EP of covers called "Recycled Recipes" that shows his appreciation of artists from Wilco to Creedence Clearwater Revival to Bob Dylan.  He then released "Pass it Around" in 2008 and has released "Recycled Reciples, vol. 2" in 2010.  He also released the album "Revisited" in June and his latest "Glow" in October.  He's pretty prolific.  Here's his song "Free" below: Musical Influences: Bob Dylan, The Black Crowes, Van Morrison, The Rolling Stones, Jack Johnson. Why should you check out this show?
  1. Donovan is a very talented musician and he will put on the show.
  2. You can sit down at The Majestic and just take in the music.
  3. You will probably hear some sweet covers.

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know about Birthday Boy Neil Young
Happy 69th birthday to my favorite self-proclaimed "rich hippie," Neil Young. I remember when I was a kid, I hated Neil's voice. I didn't even particularly care for his songs CSNY albums, but the guy grew on me, and he's now one of my...

World's Worst iPod: Mac and Katie Kissoon "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep"
There was a lot of love this morning for a song that made it up to #20 in 1971 for the brother sister team of Mac and Katie Kissoon. The pair hailed from Trinidad and this was their only Top 40 hit.

World's Worst iPod: Robbie Nevil "C'est La Vie"
"That's just the way things go," croons Robbie Nevil in the soong "C'est La Vie." Despite the fact that the theme seemed to fit the way a lot of people feel today, there just wasn't enough to support playing it in its entirety. Released...
