[Recommended] Built to Spill, Sept. 21, High Noon Saloon

Built to Spill High Noon Saloon 8:30PM, $22, 18+, more info Built to Spill has been around since 1992.  That's 18 years for the mathematically inclined.  (I checked by calculator.)  So they have seen the test of time and have come back stronger with their new album There is No Enemy in 2009.  Hailing from Boise, Idaho, Built to Spill is heavily influenced by a blend of pop and rock.  Also a little blues.  Lead singer, Doug Martsch mentions in an interview with Pitchfork he was heavily influenced by a wide range of people, from Jimi Hendrix to the driving guitar of Butthole Surfers to Modest Mouse. One of my favorite songs from the new album is "Things Fall Apart."  It is so poetic and beautifully simple and then launches into an incredible trumpet and guitar solo.  This is a great album to just sit and relax to.    Listen to this song and tell me it's not soothing: Why should you check them out?
  • High Noon Saloon has a nice balance of being personal, but not too small
  • They will play a range styles
  • The will probably cover someone you know and it will be good
Musical Peers:
  • Neil Young
  • The Strokes
  • Death Cab for Cutie

Tonight’s song
Dear Superstars, The hours grow closer and closer as I wait to see which one of us is going home tonight. For last week's performance I gave my all to "Drive-By Heartache" and I hope that the judges heard the lyrics and the melodies. For me a song...

Most expensive dishes from around the world. ~Stevi
I never thought I would see the day where chocolate pudding showed up on a list of most expensive dishes. I feel like someone should contact Bill Cosby about this. More outrageiously priced food here; be ready to pick your jaw off the floor. ~Stevi

I had so much fun with last weeks challenge and performance. The first elimination was really nerve racking and losing Carrel was a big bummer. I am so glad she still played her song because it was BEAUTIFUL. This week, the challenge is...
