[Music News] Govt. Shuts Down Music Web Sites

According to an article in the New York Times, the web addresses of several web sites that allow illegal file-sharing were seized on November 26th  by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a division of the Department of Homeland Security. Torrent Sites Banned If you go to the URL of any of those sites (including torrent-finder.com, onmash.com, rapgodfathers.com, and dajaz1.com) you will receive a message from the government saying "This domain name has been seized by ICE — Homeland Security Investigations, pursuant to a seizure warrant issued by a United States District Court." This is an ongoing investigation, so more sites will undoubtedly be shut down.  But, already new torrent sites have been created to combat the shutdowns. These shut downs were the result of newly passed legislation According to the NY Times, "The new seizures also come as a new bill, the Combating Online Infringements and Counterfeits Act, is making its way through Congress. The bill, which was approved by a Senate committee last week, would allow the government to shut down sites that are 'dedicated to infringing activities.'" Critiques: Many people are angry and feel that the law is too broad the Electronic Frontier Foundation says it's an "Internet censorship bill."

The problem with holiday sweaters--and it's not that they're ugly
Holiday sweaters--oh we love to mock them! Ugly holiday sweater parties have become so mainstream that I feel they are no longer ironic. But that's not what I'm going to gripe about. My problem is that ugly holiday sweaters are now becoming...

World's Worst iPod: Carl Douglas "Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting"
It's hard to believe a novelty song like this went all the way up the charts to number one---but it did, and actually stayed there for two weeks! It seemed most everyone, excluding our meteorologist Brian Olson wanted to hear this song, which came...

Jeff the Promo Guy's Top 2014 Picks
2014 had a ton of great new album releases, and I easily came up with more than 10 to reference. I would have loved to include The Fray, Angus & Julia Stone, Bleachers, Alt-J, and George Ezra… but they just didn't make it on my Top 10 list. Here...
