[Music News] Simon and Garfunkel Postpone Tour, New Ben Folds + Arcade Fire + Ki

Simon and Garfunkel Postpone Tour Indefinitely Legendary singer and songwriter duo Simon and Garfunkel have sadly postponed their North American summer tour indefinitely.  Art Garfunkel is recovering from vocal paresis, a vocal chord condition, but is expected to make a full recovery.  North American fans will have to wait even longer to hear the duo live considering the last time Simon and Garfunkel went on a North American tour  was 2003-2004.  This postponement includes the earlier pushed back Madison date.  more info Ben Folds and Nick Hornby Collaboration Details Emerge Pop piano rocker Ben Folds is working on a collaboration album with British novelist Nick Hornby (About A Boy and High Fidelity.)  New details about the earlier hinted at album include that the album will contain 12 tracks in which Folds will put music to short stories written by Hornby.  The album is set for a September 28 release on Nonesuch Records and will be released on "audiophile -grade" vinyl along with digitally and CD.  Follow along as more details of the release emerge.  more info Foo Fighters Side Project Out Soon Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett has formed a side project titled The Dead Peasants and there debut release will arrive July 12.  The project has been dubbed a country/Americana release and Shiflett explains that "It is so far from anything I've been a part of with Foo Fighters and it was just really fun to do."  All Foo or Americana fans should keep their eyes peeled for this rootsy country release.  more info Parlimaent-Funkadelic Guitarist Garry Shider Passes Away Be sure to keep in funky today in honor of Garry Shider.  Legendary Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist Garry Shider sadly passed away Wednesday.  Shider known to fans as "Starchild" or "Diaperman" was 56 when he passed.  Shider was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer this March.  Shider had been in P-Funk since his teenage years after meeting George Clinton and becoming a band regular.  more info Voodoo Music Experience Announces Line up The New Orleans set music festival known as the Voodoo Music Experience has released the lineup for this years festival.  The "experience" will be held October 29-31 in City Park in New Orleans.  The lineup has a great mix this year including Muse, MGMT, Weezer, Interpol, Jakob Dylan and Three Legs, along with "medical miracle" Ozzy Osbourne.  Voodoo could make for a fun weekend get away as lineup looks extremely entertaining and the city of New Orleans is always a great host.  For a complete lineup and more information visit Voodoo's official site. Listen to New Brandon Flowers Single "Crossfire" If you want one more (or many more) listens to the recently premiered on Triple M  single by Killers frontman Brandon Flowers you can!  Flowers is streaming his first solo single "Crossfire" on his website for fans to give a listen.  Flowers is set to release a solo album, titled Flamingo, later this year and has described the process of recording the solo work as "lonely" in recent interviews. New Arcade Fire Release The Suburbs Details, Stream New Tracks Arcade Fire fans listen up!  Details about the highly anticipated upcoming Arcade Fire LP titled The Suburbs have been revealed.  The follow up to Arcade Fire's highly regarded album Neon Bible will be released August 3 in the US contains 16 tracks, four of which can be heard online at various sites.  For a track listing, other album details and links to streams of new tracks check out Pitchfork Media's report. Matt and Kim Announce Tour Indie pop-sters Matt & Kim have announced a massive American tour including shows in Madison, Chicago, and Minneapolis.  Matt & Kim will arrive in Madison on September 21 to play the Majestic Theatre.  Dates spanning 5 months and all over North America are scheduled.  Matt & Kim fans will have plenty of opportunity to see the band the second half of 2010.  Check in here at Triple M for specific Madison details as they emerge.  More info on the tour and the scheduled dates. -Sam Ryan
