[Music News] Ringo and Paul Reunite! New Brandon Flowers video, Wilco to Start

Ringo and Paul Reunite to Rock Ringo's Birthday Ringo Starr celebrated his 70th birthday Wednesday night in New York City and got by with a little help from a friend.  Paul McCartney unexpectedly joined Ringo on stage to perform the Beatles' track "Birthday" for the frenzied crowd.  This unexpected performance united the last living members of the Beatles as Yoko Ono and George Harrison's widow Olivia watched from off stage.  Lucky for us, a dedicated fan shot video of the performance with a camera or phone so the rest of the world could see this historic meeting.  Check it out below.  more info Brandon Flowers Saved by Charlize Theron in "Crossfire" Video If you have listened to Triple M a bit recently you have possibly heard Brandon Flowers new single "Crossfire" on the station.  Flowers will be releasing his first solo album titled Flamingo on September 14 with "Crossfire" being the solo for the upcoming album.  The official video for Brandon Flowers new single has been released and features actress Charlize Theron fighting off ninjas to save the troubled Flowers.  Check out the video and let us know what you think of the new Brandon Flowers track.  more info Wilco to Start Own Record Label According to guitarist Nels Cline, Wilco's next move is to write new material for a new album.  This makes sense for a band to do, but what is interesting is how the material will get to fans.  Wilco will likely be leaving their current label, Nonesuch, while establishing their own record label.  Details are vague and the process of creating their own label is still in the early stages, lacking a name even.  The implications of a transition are unknown as of now, but as details emerge Triple M will be sure to let you know.  Regardless of what happens, Wilco will still be writing great music for their fans to enjoy.  more info KT Tunstall Returns with "Push That Knot Away" Singer songwriter KT Tunstall is back and preparing for the release of her new album Tiger Suit this September 28.  Tunstall has released the video for the track "Push That Knot Away," a track she calls a "signature" track that features her attempt to mix acoustic picking with a bit of electronica.  The track has a very different feel from her past work, but something after a first listen I can dig.  Give the track a watch and a listen here. New Strokes Album Expected Next March The Strokes have not recorded a new album since their 2006 release First Impressions of Earth.  This is way too long in my book.  But no fear Strokes fans, the word is that the band is planning to release a new album in March 2011.  Lead singer Julian Casablancas told BBC 6 Music that the album is about half way done and the band continues to procrastinate to get the album wrapped up.  As much as I hope a new album hits stores March 2011, if judging by these remarks and history it may be a bit longer.  more info Learn to Play The National with The National! Have you ever wanted to play a jam off The National's most recent album High Violet?  Well now yon can with a little help from The National's own Aaron Dessner.  Dessner swung through Canada's "Q" TV and recorded an instructional video for the piano portion of the track "England" from High Violet.  Dessner describes the piano portion as "quite simple," but you can decide that for yourself.  Check the video out here along with more info. Kid Cudi, Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, and Best Coast Free Download Converse, yes the shoes, released a free download of an exclusive new track titled "All Summer" that features Cleveland rapper Kid Cudi, Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, and LA based Best Coast.  This collaboration can be heard and downloaded at the Converse site along with video introductions of the involved musicians.  A bit of a different feel than the usual Triple M track, but give it a try and let us know your thoughts!  By the way, sorry about Lebron Cudi... -Sam Ryan

Have you heard the song "Rumble and Sway" yet on Triple M? The singer sounds like a raspy blues dude who's definitely been around the block a few times....but surprisingly, Jamie N. Commons is only 23 years old! He was born in England, but...

New food of the week: Kale
Last week, I decided I would try one new, healthy food a week, and asked my facebook friends to make some suggestions. The first thing I tried was mango. I'm sure I've had other mango flavored things, and mango as part of something else, but...

World's Worst iPod: You Don't Bring Me Flowers
There's only one thing that might be worse than the Neil Diamond/Barbra Streisand duet "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." And that's Jonathan Suttin doing his best crooning...doing both parts. Most unpleasant. A lot of people liked this song...

Last weeks challenge we thought went excellent! Of course we are a little biased. The drinking song couldn't have been any better, or any less fun. We had a blast through out the whole process, and our performance rocked. This week is an easy...

World's Worst iPod: The Girl is Mine by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney
So the story goes Michael Jackson completed this song while watching cartoons with Paul McCartney. We'll just let that sink in for a moment. Not sure what cartoons they were watching, but it must have worked because this song made it to number 2...

World's Worst iPod: Somethin' Stupid by Frank and Nancy Sinatra
This duet by Ol' Blue Eyes and his daughter went all the way to number 1 back in 1967. It seems a little creepy that Frank and Nancy Sinatra are singing a love song. However, a lot of Triple M listeners were in the mood for it. Here's...
