John Lennon Handwritten Lyrics of "A Day in the Life" Auctioned For $1.2 Million
An original handwritten note containing the lyrics to the final track of the Beatles legendary album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was sold to an American collector. The pen and marker written note was originally estimated to sell for around $800,000 by Sotheby's. An interesting side note, when the track was originally released it was banned from being played on BBC and some Sgt. Great news for Radiohead fans. Reports are revealing that the band is putting finishing touches to a new album and the writing/recording process should be wrapped up in "a matter of weeks." Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien revealed the record status in a recent interview and said, "We're in the heart of the record. It's genuinely exciting. It's very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It's so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it's ever been." Rilo Kiley leading lady Jenny Lewis has been working with her singer-songwriter boyfriend Jonathan Rice to write and record a new album titled I'm Having Fun Now that is scheduled for an August 31 release. To tide fans over until August Lewis and Rice are allowing fans a free download of one of their tracks titled "Scissor Runner."
