[Music News] Condi and Aretha Jam, Soundgarden Plan Pre-Lolla Chicago Show, Jani

Condoleezza Rice and Aretha Franklin Duet For Charity As previously reported on Triple M, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice performed with music legend Aretha Franklin at a benefit show in Philadelphia earlier this week.  Rice is an extraordinary pianist who considered becoming a professional musician before going forward with her political career.  The duo's nine minute performance included Rice playing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor as well as Rice playing "Say A Little Prayer For You" as Franklin sang.  Check out video from the performance below.  more info Soundgarden Plans Pre-Lolla Show Seattle grunge rockers Soundgarden are preparing for their long awaited headlining slot at this year's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago by scheduling a warm-up Chicago show three days before their Lolla date.  Soundgarden, who broke up in 1997, will be playing at the Vic Theatre in Chicago on August 5th.  Tickets to the 1400 person capacity show are available to the band's official fan club members.  Become a member and grab your tickets for this historic concert as soon as possible.  more info Former Barenaked Ladies Frontman To Release Solo Album Steven Page, the former leader and co-founder of Canadian alternative rock band Barenaked Ladies, will be releasing a solo album September 28 titled Page One.  Page and Barenaked Ladies split up back in 2009 so Page could pursue a solo career.  The first single off the album is titled "Indecision" and was officially released July 27.  more info and tracklist The Arcade Fire To Stream August 5th Madison Square Garden Show Online The Arcade Fire will be broadcasting their August 5 Madison Square Garden show using the services of online video providers Vevo.  The live stream of the Madison Square Garden Show will be directed by Terry Gilliam of 12 Monkeys as well as  Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Fans worldwide will be able to watch this epic show from any where they are receiving an internet signal.  Ah, the power of the internet.  more info LCD Soundsystem Hitting The Road with Hot Chip, Milwaukee Date Added The groovy dance-rock sound of LCD Soundsystem will be arriving in Milwaukee on October 22.  LCD Soundsystem will be joined by English electropop band Hot Chip when they arrive at The Rave in Milwaukee.  LCD has added only 5 US dates, and we here in Wisconsin are lucky enough to have them visit.  If you are looking for a fun show that will keep you grooving all night, grab your tickets starting tomorrow (July 31) for the October 22 date.  Full tour schedule and more info Amy Adams May Play Janis Joplin In Bio-Pic A biography that follows the life and times of singer Janis Joplin is in the works.  Early word on the project reveals that actress Amy Adams (of Enchanted and Julie and Julia) may be the choice to play Janis Joplin in the film.  A studio has not picked up the film for sure yet, but reportedly City of God director Fernando Meirelles is attached to direct and Fox Searchlight owns the script.  As more details about the tentatively planned Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can bio-pic are released, Triple M will keep you up to date.  more info American Idol Seeking New Judge. Timberlake, Elton, J-Lo, Jessica Simpson Possible? "American Idol" is struggling.  The ratings giant has lost several judges over the past year including "Idol" staple Simon Cowell.  Comedian Ellen Degeneres who was on the show for one brief season is finished with the show as well.  Reports of new judges are spreading plenty of names including Elton John, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez and others.  So, with so many new judges, will "American Idol" survive?  Has the show already lost its swagger?  Who would make a great "Idol" judge?  So many questions and so few answers...
