[Concert Review] One eskimO, July 7, Majestic Theater

This past Wednesday evening Madison's indie rock faithful arrived at the Majestic Theatre to witness the next chapter in One eskimO's musical journey. One eskimO arrived in Madison for their third time in the past nine months, this being the first as the headliner of the bill. The band was grateful for the warm reception Madison seems to always present them especially as a headlining act.
Instrumentally the band consisted of Pete Rinaldi on acoustic guitar, Jamie Sefton on bass guitar and horns, the cool vocals of Kristian Leontiou and Adam Falkner playing a distinct percussion set-up. Falkner sat on a Cuban box drum and struck various other percussion instruments with drum mallets and brushes including a spiral cymbal and an electronic sampling pad.
As part of their debut album, One eskimO created an animated film to visually represent their album. A projector played sections of the animation above the as One eskimO rocked their tunes below.
Track wise, One eskimO played all the tracks from their debut self-titled as their Madison fans sang along. Some track highlights included "Kandi," "Hometime,"Givin' Up" and even an unexpected Warren G cover. Guitarist Pete Rinaldi told the crowd last time the band was in Madison, rapper/singer/producer Warren G performed the night before One eskimO and this inspired the band to listen to and work on a cover of a Warren G track.
One eskimO played an acoustically great set for their quickly growing Madison fan base. It was clear Madison was glad to have One eskimO back in town, and I am sure they will be welcomed with open arms any time in the future.
