Mike Gordon and his band are phenomenal musicians and his concert was a contagious dance-fest. The spirit of the mota was in the air, both literally and figuratively, but that's something that just comes with any semblance of Phish. Almost invariably all of their songs end up in long jam sessions that are like ecstasy for your ears.
New Album: Gordon released his new album "Moss" in October and a lot of those songs were part of the performance.
My favorite song of the night:
"Cities". This is a cover of the Talking Heads song and it was awesome. The piano player was really good and he could play FAST. They also did "Soulfood Man" and I thought it was excellent as well. Here's a video of the song "Cities" from last year when they were at they Barrymore:
Lights...
The light show was fantastic. You got spiraling visceral in-your-face lights of blue, red, green and purple that were really cool. The effect of lights and music and mood allows you get to get lost in the melodies of the songs.
Venue: I feel the Barrymore is a good place to have a concert like this. There are seats available and you can stand at the front and dance to the music if you want.
The Crowd: This was a real eclectic bunch of people from all different ages. My favorite crowd moment in the show was when one guy lit up a 'cigarette' and he was smoking and one of the security people went up to him and said, "You have to put that out." The guy looks at the security person with a deeply blank stare, looks down at this cigarette inquisitively furrowing his brow, and then asks this person, "Why?"
Overall:
This was an enjoyable concert that would be fun for a lot of different people. The jam sessions are extraordinary and it feels like Mike Gordon has a real passion for all kinds of interesting sounds.

It's a miracle that both Jonathan and KItty wanted to hear Barry Manilow this morning. They were not alone. Plenty of Fanilow's called in to vote yes. One caller claimed to have seen Manilow in concert 25 times!
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, it is another gorgeous Monday, fit for another great show at the Crystal Corner tonight.
Through locking ourselves in the barn on Irish Lane, tossing some ideas around, as well as a few choice beverages to...
Hey everybody, we were thrown for a loop by the twist this week, but were able to make one of our "oldie but a goldie" songs fit the mold.
We have a few songs that we have played consistently over the years, and we are very happy that we will be...
We just received word of what this weeks twist is, and...oh boy. We need to take our "signature song" and cut it to only 2:30 without going over. Amberstein does not simply play 2:30 versions of our songs...so this could be interesting.

In 1984, Rockwell rose to number 2 for 3 weeks in 1984 with "Somebody's Watching Me." The backup singer for the song was Michael Jackson. How did Rockwell get Jackson to help him? Well, Rockwell's real name is Kennedy William Gordy and he...
Have you heard the song "Rumble and Sway" yet on Triple M?
The singer sounds like a raspy blues dude who's definitely been around the block a few times....but surprisingly, Jamie N. Commons is only 23 years old!
He was born in England, but...
